“But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise…” – 1st Corinthians 1:27 (NKJV)
Have you ever felt insignificant, invisible, tattered, unworthy, not good enough, too small, inadequate, or incapable of doing something? You might have felt the tug of the Holy Spirit, the clear call of God to do something, but still have that crippling effect of getting started. We have all been there more times than we’d probably like to admit.
God’s kingdom, however, operates radically differently from the world we live in. In this world, we tend to elevate the powerful, rich, and prestigious, but God chooses the humble, the cast aside, the overlooked, and, in many cases, the seemingly unqualified. This allows the ordinary to become extraordinary, which, of course, gives all the glory to God, to whom it belongs.
Can you overcome roadblocks? Yes, you can! God can use you to make a difference. Thankfully, the Bible is filled with many accounts of God using seemingly ordinary people like you and me to do great and glorious things in His name – accomplishing the extraordinary.
There is David, a shepherd boy who defeated a giant. Then there is Mary, a young girl chosen to carry the Saviour of the world. We can read about the fishermen and the tax collectors who became the foundation of the Church. None of them was world famous, but ordinary people whom God transformed daily for His divine purpose. 1st Corinthians 1:27 (NKJV) reinforces God’s plan: “But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty”.
Are you still feeling too insignificant to make an impact? I would say that you are more than qualified to be used by God. You’re not too weak; God will use you. You think your home life is dysfunctional? God will still use you. Do not underestimate the power of God; He can do immeasurable things in your life. He doesn’t need your detailed resume. All He wants is your availability.
As you surrender to God’s will, watch how He transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary. Be the masterpiece God created you to be. Walk in His grace and love. Your weaknesses will be used as God’s canvas to bring forth strength; watch your limitations become the foundation for His miracles.
Prayer
Thank You, Heavenly Father, for seeing the value in us that the world overlooks. Use our lives, our gifts, our weaknesses, and our stories for something far greater than we can ever imagine. Make us vessels of Your extraordinary grace, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
